Realme GT7 Review : The True New Flagship Killer ?

The smartphone market is seeing a major reshuffle. For years, OnePlus dominated the “flagship killer” category. However, the brand seems to have changed its strategy. Today, another subsidiary of the BBK Electronics group may well take this coveted spot. This is Realme, which is making a strong statement with its new lineup.

Recently, the brand unveiled the Realme GT7 and GT7T. These models complete an already strong series. In this article, we will focus on the Realme GT7. This phone promises top-tier features for a contained price. So, is Realme the new champion of value for money? Let’s analyze this technological gem together.

A Sleek and Smart Design

Realme offers its GT7 in two distinct colors. You can choose between a sober black and an elegant blue, the one featured in our review. The brand has paid special attention to detail. For instance, you can find red stitching around the camera block and on the power button. These color accents add a unique touch, reminiscent of sports cars. Furthermore, these details change depending on the phone’s color, giving each version its own personality.

The back of the phone is also a success. It has a matte finish that is very pleasant to the touch. Importantly, it combines fiberglass and graphene. This composition is not just for aesthetics. Indeed, it actively helps dissipate heat from the processor. The phone’s frame, meanwhile, is flat with rounded corners for a better grip.

Its dimensions are 162.4×76.1×8.3 mm. The phone therefore remains relatively thin. This is a real technical feat, as it houses a huge battery. Despite this, its weight is only 206 grams. The balance is perfect. The smartphone does not tilt backward, even with its prominent camera module. When placed on a table, it remains perfectly stable.

A Dazzling Display for Any Situation

The front of the Realme GT7 is dominated by a magnificent screen. It’s a 6.78-inch AMOLED LTPO panel. The LTPO technology allows for an adaptive refresh rate. Thus, the frequency varies from 1 to 120 Hz depending on your use. This saves battery while ensuring perfect fluidity. Its 1.5K resolution offers remarkable display sharpness.

However, the most impressive feature is its brightness. The manufacturer claims a peak of 6000 nits. This is simply colossal. In practical terms, you will never have trouble reading your screen. Even in direct sunlight, readability remains exemplary. It’s an undeniable visual comfort for daily use.

By default, the “Vivid” color mode is enabled and offers excellent calibration. However, you can customize it. Realme offers several other modes like “Natural,” “Pro,” or “Cinematic.” In short, this screen is a feast for the eyes. It is fluid, incredibly bright, and perfect for consuming multimedia content.

Power and Control: The Heart of the Beast

Under the hood, the Realme GT7 packs a muscular configuration. It is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400E processor. This chip is paired with 12 GB of RAM. On paper, the promise is great. But what about in real life? The user experience is simply flawless.

In the interface and daily applications, there are no slowdowns to report. Everything runs instantly. Even with many apps open in the background, the phone maintains its speed. It’s in gaming that it shows its full power. The most demanding titles, like Call of Duty Mobile, run without any issues. You can even push the graphics to the maximum. The game remains fluid and stable.

The other strong point is its thermal management. Despite intense gaming sessions or use in hot weather, the phone does not overheat. The graphene and fiberglass back plays its part perfectly. It efficiently dissipates heat, ensuring consistent performance and optimal user comfort.

Record-Breaking Battery Life and Express Charging

Battery life is often the weak point of powerful smartphones. Here, Realme meets the challenge brilliantly. The GT7 is equipped with a gigantic 6000 mAh battery. This figure translates into exceptional endurance. With intensive use, you will easily last a full day. You can play games, watch videos, and browse without worry.

If your usage is more moderate, the battery life can even reach two full days. It is simply one of the best phones on the market in this regard. It undoubtedly ranks in the top 3 of its category.

And if you ever run out of power, don’t panic. The phone is compatible with ultra-fast charging. It reaches 50% battery in just 15 minutes. For a full charge, from 0 to 100%, it only takes 40 minutes. Moreover, the compatible charger is included in the box. On this point, the Realme GT7 is simply monstrous.

Realme UI 6: Efficient but Limited Over Time

The software side is a bit more mixed. The phone runs on Android 15 with the Realme UI 6 skin. interface is clean, fluid, and very pleasant to use. It closely resembles what OnePlus or Oppo offer, which is a good thing. Customization is easy and extensive. It also includes practical AI features, like Gemini or the magic eraser for photos.

The real drawback lies elsewhere. It concerns software update support. Realme only promises 3 years of major Android updates. This means the phone will stop at Android 18. This is a bit short in 2025. The competition, like Samsung, often offers longer support on similarly priced models. This is the main compromise to make with this smartphone.

Photography: Versatile with Strong Points

For photography, the Realme GT7 is equipped with a solid setup. The main sensor is a 50-megapixel Sony IMX906. It is accompanied by a 50-megapixel Samsung telephoto lens offering 2x optical zoom. Finally, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle completes the trio. On the front, the selfie sensor reaches 32 megapixels.

The main sensor is clearly the star. It produces sharp, detailed, and bright shots during the day. The colors are accurate and pleasing. The 2x telephoto lens is also excellent. It delivers very high-quality photos, with a colorimetry close to the main sensor. This is a real advantage over simple digital zoom.

However, not everything is perfect. The autofocus can be temperamental at times, especially in video. It can struggle to lock onto the right subject. The ultra-wide-angle, on the other hand, is quite average. It’s there to help out but lacks detail. At night, the main sensor performs honorably. In video, the phone can shoot up to 8K at 30 frames per second.

Final Verdict: Should You Buy the Realme GT7?

So, what is our final verdict on this Realme GT7? The assessment is extremely positive. For a price around €600, this smartphone offers high-end features. Its battery life is simply phenomenal. Raw performance never disappoints, whether in daily use or gaming. Its design is successful, and its screen is a pure delight.

Of course, it is not without flaws. The software support limited to 3 years is its biggest compromise. The camera, while very decent, shows some weaknesses in autofocus and with the ultra-wide-angle lens.

However, at this price, it is difficult to find better. For everyday photos and social media, it is more than sufficient. It asserts itself as a true “flagship killer.” If your budget is tight and you are looking for power and endurance, the Realme GT7 is undoubtedly one of the best choices of the year.
